Giving Back
Seminar For Tomorrow's Leaders
Giving back is core to my heart. I give back as a Rotarian serving with fellow friends and Rotarians in my club, Mecklenburg County South Rotary and Rotary District 7680. Since 2011, Seminar For Tomorrow's Leaders has been a highlight of service. I began as a mentor and was invited to lead the program the following year allowing me to use my gifts and passion while leaning into my values and connecting with others. And, teens are SO. MUCH. FUN! Yes, I said that! I really enjoy working with young people as they learn and grow during a pivotal time of life. Seminar For Tomorrow Leaders (SFTL) is a collaborative leadership program emphasizing servant leadership custom designed and licensed by The Center For Creative Leadership, an international award-winning top leader in executive training and leadership development. The program is funded by the Rotary Clubs of Rotary District 7680 and hosted by a dedicated team of volunteers each year. To date, approximately 700 teens have participated in the program. ROTARY 7680 END POLIO NOW KILIMANJARO CLIMB
In 2012, I joined 28 Rotarians in the inaugural Rotary Kilimanjaro Climb raising funds to End Polio Now throughout the world. It was truly a mountain top experience that changed my perspective on life. The culmination of courage, compassion, and connection. Together, our climb raised over $130,000 to help eradicate polio in the last four countries, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, and Nigeria. Polio is very close to extinction and Rotary along with matching grants from The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is committed to the end. Since 2012, approximately 32 more climbers have joined the challenge. I enjoy speaking and sharing stories and unforgettable lessons from Kilimanjaro.
